Events

On the GCAMP Calendar of Events you will find:

  • Career/Job Fairs – These are hiring events, often held in anticipation of an upcoming high school or community college graduation, meant to help graduating students find jobs.   Manufacturers - find your next employees here!
  • Career Expos - (also sometimes called Showcases or Trades Fairs) These events are slightly different from job fairs.   They are geared towards younger students to encourage them to pursue a career in industry.   The students at these events are not seeking jobs yet, but they are looking for information about possibly pursuing careers in industry.   Manufacturers are invited to these events to introduce the next generation to the field of manufacturing. 
  • Mock Interviews -These events are for students to learn interviewing skills.  Industry professionals are needed to help conduct the mock interviews, and employers sometimes find potential real-life hires at mock interviews.
  • Advisory Meetings – These meetings allow industry experts an opportunity to give their input on how educators can refine their programs for current trends and technology.  These are great events to connect industry with education.
  • Competition Judge Requests – Student skills competitions are great ways for members of industry to meet skilled students and educators.  Plus, they are often a fun way for those in industry to volunteer their time and give back to the community. 
  • Awards & Scholarships - Awards refer to contests or competitions for people, frequently students, in manufacturing.  Scholarships on our page are for students to help fund their education beyond high school.   See the scholarship descriptions for more details.

East Aurora High School

East Aurora High School Career Fair

East Aurora High School will hold its Career Fair on April 19, 2023, from 12:30-2:15 p.m. This event is an excellent opportunity to expose our upperclassmen to job opportunities, vocational training, and other post-secondary avenues. We expect nearly 2,000 sophomores, juniors, and seniors to attend. East Aurora High School students are culturally diverse and represent various ethnic backgrounds, and we wish to expand their knowledge of potential college and careers. District 131 has the distinction of being the first public school district in Illinois, established by the State in 1851. Our school enrollment is almost 4,200 students, consisting of 87% Hispanic, 8% African American, 2% Caucasian, and 3% Asian/American Indian/Multi-Racial ethnic backgrounds. D211 Job Fair

Township High School District 211 will be holding our first annual D211 Senior Job Fair for our graduating seniors from Palatine, Fremd, Conant, Schaumburg, Higgins, North Campus and Hoffman Estates High Schools that are planning to go directly into the workforce after graduation and are looking for full-time, entry-level positions.    If your company is looking to hire high school graduates for entry-level positions, we would like to invite you to fill out the application to attend this free event.  Due to space limitations, we will not be able to accommodate all requests. Spark! Career Extravaganza 2023

On April 18, 2023, ninth graders from Indian Valley Vocational Center sending schools including Earlville, Hinckley-Big Rock, Indian Creek, Leland, Newark, Plano, Sandwich, Serena, Somonauk, and Yorkville will attend a career exploration event in the gymnasium of the Fox Valley Family YMCA in Plano.

VALEES Welding and Fabrication Challenge

VALEES is excited to invite you to participate, as a judge, in the Welding and Fabrication Challenge on Friday, April 14 from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (lunch included) at Waubonsee Community College Plano Campus (100 Waubonsee Dr. Plano, IL). This is an opportunity to share your industry experience and knowledge with welding students. If you yourself do not weld, but have a colleague that does, please pass this invitation on to them! We are seeking judges for all four welding processes! Schools participating include East Aurora High School, Fox Valley Career Center, Oswego High School and West Aurora Weisner Center.    RSVP by emailing Josi Moran jmoran1@waubonsee.edu.
