Lathe Operator - Kwalyti Tool and Machinery

Job Description

• Review released jobs for turned parts
• Use information given on drawing and job traveler to program lathe to produce designated part.
• Effectively communicate any concerns or changes to the Machinist Level III and/or Engineering.
• Recommend/approve needed supplies and materials for lathe jobs.
• Set-up and operate the Star Clip machine.
• Perform secondary operations as required (deburring, grinding, drilling/tapping, etc.)  
• Setup, program and run Haas Turn Mill and Mazak lathe machine.
• Maintain specifications and verify quality of parts by taking measurements, detecting production flaws and adjusting and reprogramming controls.
• Back-up to Machinist Level 1 as required/needed to keep jobs moving through the department.
• Assist in other areas of the facility (unloading/loading equipment, inventory, etc.) as needed.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Keep job knowledge current by participating in training and educational opportunities such as conversational programming, TMA classes, etc.
• Sweep and organize general work area as needed

Job Duties

• The ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
• The ability and knowledge to use basic shop tools, i.e., drills, hammers, screwdrivers, sanders, saws, etc.
• Ability to perform high school level math, work in decimals and in metric
• Ability to read drawings/blueprints and use simple gaging such as a tape rule, dial calipers, and pin gages
• Fluency in reading and writing in English is required.
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.

Experience Required

• High School Diploma
• 1+ years of experience in shop environment
• 1+ years of experience with CNC turning equipment
