Events

On the GCAMP Calendar of Events you will find:

  • Career/Job Fairs – These are hiring events, often held in anticipation of an upcoming high school or community college graduation, meant to help graduating students find jobs.   Manufacturers - find your next employees here!
  • Career Expos - (also sometimes called Showcases or Trades Fairs) These events are slightly different from job fairs.   They are geared towards younger students to encourage them to pursue a career in industry.   The students at these events are not seeking jobs yet, but they are looking for information about possibly pursuing careers in industry.   Manufacturers are invited to these events to introduce the next generation to the field of manufacturing. 
  • Mock Interviews -These events are for students to learn interviewing skills.  Industry professionals are needed to help conduct the mock interviews, and employers sometimes find potential real-life hires at mock interviews.
  • Advisory Meetings – These meetings allow industry experts an opportunity to give their input on how educators can refine their programs for current trends and technology.  These are great events to connect industry with education.
  • Competition Judge Requests – Student skills competitions are great ways for members of industry to meet skilled students and educators.  Plus, they are often a fun way for those in industry to volunteer their time and give back to the community. 
  • Awards & Scholarships - Awards refer to contests or competitions for people, frequently students, in manufacturing.  Scholarships on our page are for students to help fund their education beyond high school.   See the scholarship descriptions for more details.

Tech Campus Career Expo

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the Lake County Tech Campus will be holding its annual Career Expo. This is a chance for employers to meet with high school juniors and seniors directly, talk about what it’s like to work in your industry, and describe the many great career pathway opportunities and benefits.

Employer sign-in and booth set-up will take place between 7:45am-8:15am.

Student participation will be split-up throughout the day into 3 sessions:

  • Session 1 – 8:30am-10:00am
  • Session 2 – 10:30am-12:00pm
  • Business Networking and Lunch (provided) – 12:00pm-1:00pm
  • Session 3 – 1:00pm-2:30pm

Employers will receive one table; additional table may have cost associated due to space and table rental shortage. Employers will be set-up throughout the Tech Campus, separated into the following 5 categories:

  • Automotive Service

  • Construction Skills & Management
  • Industrial Technology

Judges Needed - Waubonsee Community College IL Design Educators Assoc Competition

Industry partners with engineering or drafting experience are needed to help judge the student IDEA Competition at Waubonsee Community College. 

Judges will evaluate group design projects and individual projects from area high school student competitors.  Categories include: Introductory Board, Intorductory CAD, 3D CAD Modeling, 2D Machine CAD, Architectural Board, Architectural CAD, 3D Machine CAD.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Inclusive Career Fair

You're invited to the Inclusive Career Fair being hosted by the Advisory Commission on Disabilities in partnership with Aurora’s department of Senior and Disability Services, the Aurora Public Library, Association for Individual Development, and Weston Bridges.

The Inclusive Career Fair is for employers with an inclusive culture seeking to connect with workers who have a variety of abilities. According to Forbes magazine, adding employees with disabilities to your workforce leads to higher retention rates, increased customer loyalty, demonstrates social responsibility, and promotes a sense of inclusion and productivity throughout the entire organization.

The Inclusive Career Fair is being hosted on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at the Santori Library, 101 S. River Street, Aurora, IL 60506.

East Aurora High School Career Fair

East Aurora High School will hold its Career Fair on April 17, 2024, from 10:25 am-2:15 p.m. This event is an excellent opportunity to expose our students to job opportunities, vocational training, and other post-secondary avenues.
